Tachi Katana, Kamakura-period, Nanbikucho, Bizen Daimyo
Tachi signed by Bishop Osafune Munemasa, dated Kagen: 1304.
The tsuka and tsuba are made of solid silver, reserved for members of the elite. The temper line appears to be of the Notare type, which corresponds perfectly with Munemasa’s Shoshu tradition style. The Iori-mune-style spine was standard for Bizen swords during the Nanbokucho period. The hi (temper line) ends before the munemachi, which is consistent with the period and is of the Kaki-tome type.
Slight oxidation on the blade.
On the koshirae, the mon is that of the Maeda clan.
