Bruce Onobrakpeya (born in 1932) is one of the most important Nigerian artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of experimental printmaking in Africa. His works, drawing on Urhobo culture and spirituality, blend Western techniques with African iconography to create a unique visual language that is recognized internationally.

This large-format experimental plastocast (deep etching) print is inscribed in pencil at the bottom with “The Lord is my Shepherd.” The frontal, monumental composition, in shades of ochre, blue, green, and black, evokes the solemnity of African religious ceremonies. The work is signed in pencil and annotated by the artist.
