Embroidery On Silk Featuring The Kandalitsev Family Crest (russia)

This textile artifact consists of silk embroidery on a light-colored background, centered on the complex heraldic composition of the coat of arms of the Russian noble Kandalitsev family. The central shield features an azure field with three gold bees arranged two above and one below; the shield is supported by two gold rampant lions resting on a richly decorated base featuring plant motifs and symmetrical scrolls. The shield is surmounted by a noble crown with five visible points, embellished with gems. Above the crown rises a sumptuous crest composed of blooming heraldic roses and, at the center, a black double-headed eagle—a clear reference to the ties and honors associated with the Russian Empire. In the lower right corner, the handwritten cursive initials “G. L.” are clearly visible, followed by the year 1877.
