Pair Of Italian Nightstands In Mahogany And Onyx, Designer Piece, 1950s
An elegant pair of Italian nightstands, likely made in the Cantù area in the 1950s.
Of fine craftsmanship, they are made of solid mahogany and mahogany veneer and feature a refined silhouette typical of post-World War II Italian design.
Each nightstand features a front drawer with rounded corners, an open compartment, and four tall, tapered legs.
Particularly elegant are the raised tops in translucent light onyx, with cream and honey tones. The same material is used for the drawer handle plates, which are finished with metal pulls.
The design and build quality are characteristic of Lombard production—specifically from the Cantù area—of the 1950s.
There are no labels or manufacturer’s marks.
In good overall condition, with minor signs of wear and stains due to use and age, as well as a few small, old repairs, all consistent with the period.
Italy, circa 1950–1960.
