Important Trumeau With Mirror And Landscape Painting – Faux Marble Decoration – 19th Century
A significant wood-paneled trumeau with a mirror, featuring in its upper section a painting depicting a lakeside landscape animated by figures and sailboats, and in its lower section a large rectangular mirror.
The entire piece is framed by an imposing wooden structure painted with faux marble decoration in shades of cream, ochre, and pink.
The interior frames are highlighted by a carved frieze with a repeating pattern, while the side posts are adorned with vertical panels imitating marble, embellished with small decorative motifs in the corners.
The upper section is crowned by an overhanging molded cornice.
The painting, executed in soft tones, depicts a rural scene by the water featuring dwellings, boats, and figures.
A generously sized trumeau that is highly decorative and will add a great deal of character to a large room, an entryway, or above a fireplace.
