Ernest Hebert—French painter, graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He made his debut at the Salon in 1839. After winning the Prix de Rome, he moved to Rome, where he found inspiration for his paintings in the local rural landscapes. Upon his return to France, he painted mainly portraits. In 1882, he was appointed professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His works are exhibited in many prestigious art galleries, notably the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay.
