The Hunting Tiger, Léon Bureau (1866-1907), France, 19th Century.
Artist: Léon Bureau (1866-1907)
Depiction of a tiger moving across flat, rocky ground. Clearly crouching, it advances with soft steps on its supple legs. Its low belly rubs against the surface of the rock. Its piercing gaze is directed towards a distant point. Here we see the tension that accompanies the animal during the hunt.
