An elegant pair of lidded vases with a twisted design, made of blue-ground porcelain richly embellished with gilding. The central section is adorned with lively scenes depicting figures in 18th-century costume, alternating with finely executed landscapes.
The vases rest on quadrangular bases of chased gilt bronze decorated with volutes and medallions. The lids are topped with handles shaped like gilded pinecones.
Each piece bears a painted mark on the underside of the base. European work from the second half of the 19th century, in the Sèvres style.
