Galante Figurine, "the Little Gardener," 18th-century Style, Sitzendorf Manufactory (thuringia)

We are offering this charming antique porcelain statuette or figurine from Sitzendorf, depicting a young man or a gallant gardener in the Rococo style.

The German Sitzendorf porcelain manufactory, founded in the mid-19th century in Thuringia, is particularly renowned for its hand-painted figurines, romantic scenes, and rocaille motifs embellished with raised floral appliqués.

Our subject: A young dandy or “Rosenkavalier” (Knight of the Rose) wearing a bright blue jacket with a pink lining edged in gold, brown and maroon striped trousers, and a black tricorn hat.
The figure, depicted standing, slender and elegant, leans against a tree trunk that rises from a scalloped rocaille base, enhanced with gilding and adorned with small flowers in relief, as well as a watering can at his feet.

Condition: Please note the following missing parts: two small leaves and the rosebud in the young man’s right hand.
