Charming box with an erotic character, the reverse of the lid is decorated with a risqué scene depicting a male-female couple in a loving embrace. The top of the lid is decorated with a beautiful cabochon engraving of a waterscape overlooked by mountains with wooded banks, the foreground featuring a figure.
Note the signature and inscription located in the upper left corner; the signature likely corresponds to these two characters in red ink. The edges of the scene, the lid, and the object itself are decorated with a multitude of alternating concentric bands, each part forming a frieze of scrolling foliage or arabesques.
Generally shaped like a soap dish, with a smooth and pleasant texture, it rests on a small foot that echoes the cabochon on the lid.
* The object is in very good condition. *
Additional information: Ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I / A) pre-agreement, prior to June 1, 1947 in accordance with CE Regulation 338/97 of 12/09/1996 art.2-Wmc. For an exit from the EU, a CITES re-export will be necessary, this being the responsibility of the future purchaser. The issuance of such a document is not automatic. The future purchaser will have to inquire about the conditions of re-export because some countries do not allow the introduction of ivory specimens of Elephantidae on their territory.
