19th Century Folding Silver Glasses Or Lorgnette, Richly Chiseled Plates On Both Sides

Very beautiful silver lorgnette or binocles, beautiful folding model, the lorgnette part pivoting around an axis to open or close; a small click button is used to release the lorgnette part which comes out pushed back by a spring when this small lever is activated.
All the elements of the object are in silver, the lorgnette part is hallmarked on each of its two parts with a boar's head, the suspension bail bears the goldsmith's hallmark NL and a different one.
The two beautifully animated plates are very finely and richly worked with motifs of scrolls, foliage, flowers, interlacing and guilloché; the glasses are clear and in very good condition like the whole object.
