A very beautiful pair of antique statuettes or figurines made of polychrome German porcelain.

This sculptor carried on the noble tradition of Thuringian porcelain craftsmanship by remaining faithful to techniques passed down over the centuries to produce some of the finest porcelain of the early 20th century, such as the pieces we are pleased to offer you here.
Our figurines are marked on the underside of the base with the monogram “LK” (the letters joined together) surmounted by a crown, indicating they were produced in the early 20th century.
The Little Gardener: Standing upright, with a beautiful, gentle, and serene expression, dressed in a purple jacket and a green hat adorned with a rose, he leans on a spade next to a green watering can, hand on his hip, looking very elegant in this graceful pose; The Little Gardener: She wears a mauve hat adorned with a rose; she is very graceful and exceptionally elegant; she is dressed in a puffed-sleeve dress with a red-and-white bodice and a white skirt decorated with floral motifs; she wears little red shoes, and carries a beautiful woven basket filled with flowers on her arm.
The two statuettes rest on openwork Rocaille-style bases made of natural-colored porcelain, with the reliefs highlighted by gilded fillets and trellis motifs.
The details of the clothing and the ornamentation on the bases draw on 18th-century aesthetics; as mentioned above, our pair of charming little gardeners comes from the German factory in Volkstedt—these are exquisite porcelain pieces by Rudolf Kämmer.
You have surely noticed that the little gardener bears a striking resemblance to those in the drawings of François Boucher—particularly when comparing this porcelain to the pencil-style engraving by the engraver Gilles Demarteau, known as "La Petite Jardinière" or "La fille à Simonnette."
