Beautiful vintage modernist ceramic vase with an abstract incised design resembling branching patterns or interlaced branches, enhanced by a nuanced yellow-ochre glaze, a silica application, and a textured base with a crinkled enamel surface.

Short Biography of the Artist:
Georges Martin, a French ceramic artist trained at the École Boulle,
was born in Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne on June 10, 1932, and died in Brunoy on October 16,
2020.
In 1965, he began learning the craft of ceramics alongside
Loul Combres in Le Pesquis near Narbonne, then from 1966 to 1970 with Bernard
Buffat in Madeleine de Valence’s studio at La Grange aux Potiers in Gervans
in the Drôme department.
In 1968, he established his first studio in Plats (Ardèche), where he
developed a distinctive approach to ceramics (stoneware and porcelain) and
wood-firing.
Famous for his glazed stoneware vases adorned with various
geometric or abstract motifs, he also worked in film, advertising,
and design. His works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and
remain highly sought after by collectors.
From 1968 to 1979, he lived in the studio of
Charray in Plats (Ardèche), then from 1980 to 2001 he worked in the studio in
Saint-Vincent-de-Gras near Saint-Remèze (Ardèche).
In 2001, he left Saint-Vincent-de-Gras to
settle in Tananarive (Madagascar).
