An important clock by the Parisian master clockmaker Jean Prevost (de la Trémouille); 1727–1799. It is veneered with horn on a gold base. The ornate bronze fittings are of exceptional quality for this period. The clock has retained its original patina and features its original fire-gilding. The movement is believed to be in working order, but the pendulum and key are missing. The wall mount is also of the same high quality.
Although many examples from this period have survived, this large clock is of exceptional importance and is therefore of particular interest to a specialized collection.
