An important religious wooden sculpture depicting Shiva in the form of Tripurantaka, accompanied by Parvati. This iconography refers to the mythological episode in which Shiva destroys the three cities of the demons, thereby asserting divine power over the forces of chaos.Crafted in Tamil Nadu, in southern India, this high relief from the 19th century or earlier once belonged to decoration of a ceremonial vehicle used during major Hindu processions.
