Paw Chairs By Charles Eames, Herman Miller, And Zenith Plastics
Artist: Eames Charles & Ray.
PAW (Swivel Dowel Base Rope Edge) chair in "Parchment" colored fiberglass, designed by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller. Very early production, molded by Zenith Plastics in Gardena, California, circa 1948-1952. The shell features a perfectly visible fiber weave, typical of the early years of production, and the original swivel mechanism is marked "Seng Chicago." The chair's frame is finished with a "Rope Edge" (hemp rope) detail, found only on the earliest Zenith editions. Its original Zenith Plastics sticker is still present and intact.
This version, uncommon on the market, features the sought-after configuration of a wooden base with black Eiffel-style legs and the original swivel base, a feature reserved for the earliest models and now extremely rare. An iconic piece, a collector's item.
In very good condition, with smooth rotation.
This chair is sold as a collector's item; although it shows no signs of wear, we advise against using it. H 78 CM X D 61 CM X W 63 CM.
