"genji: Spring Cherry Blossoms" Triptych By Toyokuni III
A polychrome Japanese triptych print from the Edo period (19th century) by Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III, signed "Toyokuni ga."
The scene, inspired by the Tale of Genji, depicts elegant Japanese women beneath cherry blossoms. It is titled “Genji shiki no uchi Haru,” meaning “Genji Through the Four Seasons: Spring.”
The set consists of three sheets forming a single large composition, printed on Japanese paper with beautiful polychrome coloring and numerous details in the costumes and landscape.
