Berber headscarf or shawl collected in Matmata in southern Tunisia and dating from the early 20th century. This piece was handwoven on a loom from sheep’s wool dyed with indigo blue using traditional techniques. The dyeing process results in color variations that give it its charm and authenticity. The borders are dyed with large red, yellow, and blue tie-dye spots, created using the tie-and-dye technique. Please note: there are five to six tiny moth holes (maximum 0.5 cm), which are the only flaws to be noted. Overall good condition in terms of color and preservation.
