LISE DRIOUT (1922–2017) was a painter and glass artist born in 1922 in Courbevoie, descended from an old family from Saint-Malo. Having grown up in a family of musicians, rhythm plays an important role in her work, particularly in the 1960s. In Brittany, and more specifically in Saint-Malo, where she rediscovered her roots, Lise Driout created the majority of her body of work. From the harbor of Rothéneuf to the ramparts of Saint-Malo, she captures, through her vibrant brushwork, the full complexity of this region that is “by turns calm and turbulent.”  Lise Driout was a member of the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Artistes Français, and the Salon des Femmes Peintres. She received numerous awards, including the Prix du Gémmail in 1957, third prize at the 1960 Cherbourg Painting Biennial, second prize at the 1960 Pont-Aven Painting Salon, and the Grand Prix at the 1960 “3S” Salon in Fontainebleau. 
She exhibited at the “Tonalités” Gallery in Paris, the Montparnasse Gallery in Paris, in Tokyo with Kimura Bokudo, at the Librairie du Môle owned by Mr. Duquesnoy in Saint-Malo, in Pont-Aven, at the Salon de la Marine, at the Salon des Indépendants, at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1970, 1971, and 1972, at the Salon du Dessin et de la Peinture à l’Eau in Paris, and at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris.
