Batiste Bridal Handkerchief—initials "m-d" Topped With A Comtale Crown—antique Linen
A bridal handkerchief made of fine batiste, monogrammed with the initials “M-D” flanked by a count’s crown. A typical item found in the wedding trousseaus assembled by aristocratic families of the time. The embroidery is delicate and executed with precision and meticulous care. Two very small stoppages are worth noting, as well as a particularly well-executed historical repair (see photos). This fine antique fabric has been washed by immersion in a gentle, carefully controlled soak and ironed. The materials show no signs of fragility.
