A beautiful pair of queen’s armchairs in carved andmolded walnut, featuring a floral design.
The armrests are whip-shaped.
These armchairs rest on curved legs.
Chassis in perfect condition, without buttresses.
Upholstered in fabric in perfect condition
Both are stamped J. Avisse on the rear posts of thebackrest

Jean Avisse (1723–1796) – Cabinetmaker in Paris.
Became a master craftsman on November 10, 1745. He is the greatestof his name due to the quality of his work.
Jean Avisse was part of an importantfamily of chairmakers.
After becoming a Master Cabinetmaker in 1745,he set up shop on Rue de Clery, where he quickly gaineda strong reputation thanks to the quality of hiswork. Despite numerous orders placed by acrowd of merchants, he was forced to file for bankruptcy twice, in 1769and 1776, but quickly resumed his business and continued to work, with the samesuccess, at 124 Rue de Cléry until 1796, the year of his death.
He created numerous remarkable pieces in theLouis XV and Louis XVI styles.
Thanks to archival records, we know that he employedhighly renowned sculptors such as PierreRousseau, Claude Vinache, and Nicolas Heurtaut for his luxury chairs. He is best known for his beautiful Louis XV chairs,notable for the nobility of their design and their understated elegance.His “à la Reine” armchairs and his large,luxurious bergère chairs feature floral motifs that are quite rare but are allcarved with refinement.
The stamp used by Avisse had neitherspacing nor a separator between his first name and last name, so hisworks are often attributed to a certain Lavisse.
