Large oval-shaped bowl made of polychrome enameled copper, created in Limoges by Léa Sham’s (born in 1956).

The composition depicts two stylized birds facing each other, rendered in a remarkable mosaic of vivid colors—orange, red, yellow, green, blue, and gray—outlined in black. They are set against a deep blue background punctuated by golden highlights, amid holly branches laden with red berries and a snow-covered landscape.

The highly graphic design of the birds, composed of colored patches with varied patterns, is particularly characteristic of Léa Sham’s artistic world and gives this large piece a remarkable decorative presence.

The vessel has a free-form shape, extended laterally by two geometric points. The reverse side is entirely counter-enameled in speckled blue and bears the engraved signature “Léa Sham’s”.

Léa Sham’s is one of Limoges’ leading contemporary enamel artists. Her work combines traditional enamel techniques with a resolutely contemporary style, characterized by bold colors and a penchant for large-scale compositions. She has notably created several monumental works and pieces of sacred art. In 2015, she received the Grand Prix Pèlerin du Patrimoine for a contemporary art project.
