Pair Of Important Polychrome Wooden Bird Trophies – Early 20th Century

An important pair of decorative trophies carved from wood in high relief, polychromed, and accented with silver plating.

Each composition features a rich naturalistic design combining birds with widely spread wings, foliage, ears of grain, and bunches of grapes, all arranged in an elegant trophy motif.

The carving, particularly detailed and dynamic, stands out for its profusion of plant elements and the meticulous rendering of the plumage. The birds seem to emerge from the composition, creating a powerful sense of depth and a remarkable decorative presence.

The polychrome finish, accented with silver highlights, emphasizes the sculpture’s volumes and details. It offers a beautiful contrast to the panels covered in dark velvet on which the trophies are displayed.

This set evokes the grand Louis XVI-style decorations, reinterpreted in the Neo-Louis XVI style of the early 20th century.

These sculptures were likely intended to be incorporated into a wall decoration or wood paneling, but today they can be displayed as standalone decorative pieces.

A spectacular pair due to its size, the richness of its carving, and its decorative presence.

Work from the first half of the 20th century.

Dimensions of each panel:

Height: 113 cm
Width: 35 cm

Very beautiful decorative effect.
