A Chinese box, likely dating from the 20th century, made of cinnabar lacquer on brass.
The lid is decorated with a large five-clawed dragon in the clouds, searching for the sacred pearl.
There is a great deal of detail, particularly on the dragon’s body; the scales are finely rendered.
The rest of the box is decorated with floral motifs.
No visible signature; some of these boxes bear the Qianlong mark, referring to the high-quality pieces produced during the reign of this great emperor.
In good overall condition; please note a small chip visible in the last photo.
