Reliquary With Two Agnus Dei—late 18th Century
A unique reliquary featuring these two wax panels surrounded by holyrelics, set in a multi-lobed gilded wooden frame.
The wax reliefs areundoubtedly taken from a major Agnus Dei. Saint Francis of Assisi is shown here responding to Saint Florian,recognizable by the flaming jug at his feet.
It contains beautiful ex-ossibus relics of Saints Honorata, Justina, and SaintsFrancis de Sales, Lawrence, Victor, and Germain. Two relics of Holy Martyrsare also clearly visible, though the labels are difficult to decipher.
An18th-century Italian work set in a montage of pearls and paper strips.
