A Deep Pink Glass Carafe Decorated With White Enamel By Mary Gregory

Enameled glass objects, known as “Mary Gregory,” always depict children—either a girl or a boy, or both together.  This is a special technique developed by an Englishwoman named “Mary Gregory,” and according to legend, she lost her two children in a fire and subsequently spent the rest of her life depicting them on objects, such as this 19th-century decanter.
