Still Life With Fruit And Elaborate Tableware, After Jan Davidsz. De Heem (1606–1684)

A beautiful composition in the Flemish tradition depicting a bountiful still life of fruits, grapes, fine tableware, glassware, and elegant objects, arranged on a table covered with a white drape. The scene is complemented, on the left, by a musical instrument and, in the background, by an open architectural setting and a globe. The composition is a very faithful reproduction of the famous painting by Jan Davidsz. de Heem (1606–1684), *Fruits and Rich Tableware on a Table*, formerly known as *A Dessert*, painted in 1640 and housed in the Louvre Museum. The arrangement of the fruit, the silverware, the globe, and the musical instruments establishes a particularly close connection to the Louvre’s original.It is likely an early copy or afterimage based on the master’s work, executed in the tradition of the Flemish painters and the numerous copies made after de Heem.
