Small Sideboard With Marquetry, Italy, Regency Period

A charming little Italian sideboard with a curved shape, featuring two drawers at the front. The rosewood and violetwood veneer is arranged in a herringbone pattern on the drawers and in a fan/diamond pattern on the sides, accented by light-wood framing moldings.The openwork bronze lock plates, decorated with symmetrical volutes in the emerging Rocaille style, are period pieces and allow the piece to be dated to the very early 18th century rather than the height of the Louis XV period.Original Siena marble top (yellow breccia veined with gray), showing a few chips from normal wear at the corners, consistent with its age. Arched legs, with solid wood uprights and crossbars. Condition: Good overall condition considering its age. Minor veneer loss; restoration on the marble top with chips from normal wear.
