Large Chest For Shawls, Scarves, And Ties With A Crown Motif, From The Time Of Baron d'époque Napoleon III

Large rectangular shawl chest with a domed lid, veneered with Amboina burl, the interior featuring compartments veneered with rosewood and lemonwood, the lid lined with a mirror on the inside and adorned with a gilded bronze baron’s crown on the outside. Napoleon III-era piece, circa 1860.

A spectacular piece due to its size, highly decorative on a chest of drawers or as a center table in a bedroom. 
A beautiful, luxurious piece (even the underside is mahogany-veneered!), reflecting the refined lifestyle of the aristocracy during that era.

Our box has been restored, its buffed varnish cleaned, and the surface repolished by our cabinetmaker. The entire piece is in excellent condition. The box comes complete with its original key, and the lock is in working order.
