A cartouche at the bottom center indicates that the scene
depicts “the solemn entrance of Cardinal
HYACINTE-NEPOMUCENE-ACHILLE DE BIBEMUS
into the Church of Saint Bernard in the Gardens in Rome
on July 24, 1749.”
Just above, a small rectangle appears to indicate
the probable artist’s name as well as the date
“B. COLLET MCMLXXX,” also signed in the margin
below the mat, B. Collet. 1980.
On the reverse, a stamp from the Fine Arts Society of Aix-en-Provence.
This drawing is very precise and meticulously executed, in perfect condition.
Large dimensions, as seen: 58 cm x 38 cm.
With its beautiful mat, 75 cm x 56 cm.
