Artist: L.delhomme
Portrait of a woman in profile, painted in oils on a wooden panel, dating from the late 19th century. The painting is signed at the bottom centre of the medallion: “L. Delhomme,” a namesake of the great sculptor Léon-Alexandre Delhomme. The painting is framed by an oval motif carved directly into the wood, adorned with painted garlands of flowers (wild roses or roses) in the corners.
The neoclassically inspired profile portrait with the high bun is very characteristic of the decorative arts during the Third Republic in France.
