This exquisite bronze art cast, enhanced by its original golden-brown patina, is the work of one of Germany’s leading art foundries (the equivalent of Susse Frères or Ferdinand Barbedienne): Aktien-Gesellschaft Gladenbeck. Founded in 1851 in Berlin by Carl Gustav Hermann Gladenbeck, it was one of Germany’s most important art and bronze foundries in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is particularly famous for casting the statue of Victory atop the Victory Column in Berlin, as well as numerous monumental and artistic sculptures. Its bronzes often bear inscriptions such as Gladenbeck Berlin, Gladenbeck und Sohn or Aktien-Gesellschaft Gladenbeck.
