Important Monoxyl Lace-making Kit – Velay, Haute-loire
A lace-maker’s box made of solid, single-species wood, entirely carved from a single block, featuring rich geometric decoration deeply carved with rosettes, stars, and radiating motifs. A piece of mountain folk art, likely from the Velay region (Haute-Loire), dating from the late 18th or 19th century. It has a long handle for carrying. The lid, which is lighter in color and features a different patina and decoration, appears to have been added at a later date. Original condition: patina from use, cracks, and warping of the wood on several sides. Dimensions: L. 46 cm + handle 12 cm; W. 17 cm; H. 11 cm. Highly decorative and of generous proportions.
