"A Spoon From Iran, 19th Century, 1850/1880"
Here is an authentic spoon from Iran, dating from the 19th century (1850-1880). It is a specialty of Abadan, a village between Isfahan and Shiras. Large spoons were made in two parts; the long handle was inserted into a slot under the central rosette. Large spoons were used for sorbets, medium ones for soup or rice, and small ones for pickles. They are made of linden wood. This one measures 35 cm. There is a very small chip on the right side of the spoon.
