Art Nouveau Copper Cauldron Or Planter, Signed L. Guibard, Late 19th Century

Artist: L. Guibard
Art Nouveau copper cauldron or planter signed by L. Guibard, late 19th century

A signed creation by the sculptor L. Guibard from the Art Nouveau period (1890–1910), this planter or cauldron stems from the traditional craft of hammering copper into decorative and utilitarian objects, known as “dinanderie.”

Extremely popular among French artisans from the 19th through the early 20th century, this cauldron is a true masterpiece of copper craftsmanship from the Art Nouveau period, when fluid lines inspired by nature dominated design.

The entire body is adorned with voluptuous, organic floral motifs in bas-relief, and its handles mimic the flowing lines of grapevine branches. It is incredibly charming, perfect for a collection of folk art objects with an Art Nouveau theme!

Over 130 years old, it has developed a patina, but you can restore its brilliant copper luster using specialized products as you see fit.

Fast and careful shipping to France, Europe, and worldwide.
