Engraved Dutch Snuffbox Made Of Copper And Brass – 18th Century - Snuffbox Mechanism

An antique and intriguing oblong snuffbox, a 18th-century Dutch piece crafted from copper and brass and entirely adorned with remarkable engraved decoration.

The lid features several figurative scenes set within architectural frames and surrounded by a rich decoration of scrollwork and foliage motifs.
The figures, depicted in various scenes of daily life, are accompanied by several inscriptions in Old Dutch engraved in cursive script.
The piece as a whole seems to offer an interesting glimpse into the popular imagery of the former Netherlands.

The sides of the box are made of red copper, contrasting elegantly with the brass borders and lid. One of the sides also bears a large inscription engraved in stylized lettering.
