Pair Of Gilded Bronze Wall Sconces, Ram Motif, Louis XVI Style, 19th Century, Two Arms
A pair of antique gilded bronze wall sconces with two lights, in the Louis XVI style, adorned with remarkable, finely chiseled ram’s heads.
The lamp arms are adorned with acanthus leaves and volutes, while the lamp heads feature a decoration of gadroons and pearls.
The shield-shaped bases are decorated with a radiating motif centered on a ram’s head rendered with great attention to detail. The quality of the chiseling and the richness of the decoration attest to the meticulous craftsmanship of the late 19th century
The wall sconces bear the stamped inscription “Modèle Déposé – France & Étranger,”
They retain their beautiful original gilding
The ram motif is directly inspired by the neoclassical decorative repertoire of the late 18th century.
