Anna Botkoveli (1960) - Lunch
Oil on panel. Hand-signed. Gallery label on the back.
Time seemed to stand still at the garden table, where the remains of breakfast—far from being cleared away—blended with the layers of a morning lulled by idleness. This conversation, woven from the invisible threads of subtle futility—the precise nuance of light on a familiar windowsill, the eccentricities of a mutual acquaintance, or the damp scent of boxwood wafting through the air—drew out, for in the lightness of the trivial, we found refuge far from the tumult of the outside world. Amid laughter muffled by the soft rustling of leaves, the porcelain cups, still warm and stained with a residue of coffee, remained near the toasted crumbs and half-open jars of jam, prolonging that sweet torpor in which the memory of that first morning slowly melted into the approaching midday calm.
Almost imperceptibly, like light shifting subtly across a linen tablecloth, the clinking of silverware against porcelain gave way to the crystalline coolness of the heavy glasses. Without anyone having explicitly signaled the end of lunch, the coffee pot, now cold, was surrounded by the golden transparency of the white wine.
- Image dimensions without frame: 72 x 72 cm / 80 x 80 cm with an exclusive, custom-made blue frame.
