Violin-shaped table with "Boulle" marquetry (inspired by André-Charles Boulle, a leading cabinetmaker under Louis XIV) in red tortoiseshell and brass. It rests on four curved legs inlaid with red tortoiseshell and brass, embellished with Espagnolette-style finials and topped with lion’s paw-shaped feet gilded in bronze. It opens with a curved drawer framed by a strongly curved, violin-shaped band adorned with large mascarons and gilded bronze friezes. One of the mascarons serves as the keyhole on the drawer, which is equipped with a lock and key. The top, surrounded by a gilded bronze border, is inlaid with tortoiseshell and brass. A band of ebony approximately 3 cm wide separates the inlay from the brass border. A very fine 19th-century piece, and rare in this condition!
