Born into a family of Italian painters—his parents arrived in France in 1910—Mario BONAMICI was introduced to drawing and painting at a very early age. At the age of sixteen, he began taking classes at the École des Arts Décoratifs and made his debut as an illustrator at the renowned Jarach and Chambry studio. He moved in the circles of fashion, theater, and cinema. His brilliant draftsmanship was noticed, and he devoted part of his professional life in both France and Switzerland to fashion illustration alongside his career as a painter.
