The artist places the cathedral at the center of the composition, with its two monumental towers dominating the vast expanse of the forecourt, which is brought to life by a few small figures. On the right, the trees and garden balance the architecture and add a few touches of color to a deliberately soft and nuanced palette.

The painting is executed with a free and generous brushstroke, punctuated by impasto, a characteristic of Julian Brosius’s Parisian views. The shades of gray, ochre, and beige lend the scene a slightly misty atmosphere that is particularly evocative of mid-20th-century Paris.
