Regency-period Marquetry Chest Of Drawers
Regency-period marquetry chest of drawers. Early 18th century. It is veneered with rosewood arranged in a curled pattern within frames on the front. On the sides, the veneer is arranged in a fern pattern. The front is curved; the sides are flat. The legs are rounded and adorned with fluted brass trim. The lower rail is scroll-cut. This chest of drawers features four drawers arranged in three rows. The locks are original and functional, fitted with an antique key. Beautiful antique gilded bronze hardware (with some traces of gilding remaining), including drop handles, rosettes, keyholes with mascarons, lamp bases, and openwork feet. The frame is made of fir, and the interior of the drawers is oak. The top is made of gray Sainte-Anne marble. Note: There are signs of previous restoration. Buffed varnish finish.
