This work was printed in Rouen by the privileged printing house in 1779 (M.DCC.LXXIX).
The work includes an engraved portrait of René Duguay-Trouin as a frontispiece, as well as fold-out plates, notably the map of the bay and the city of Rio de Janeiro and the large-scale view of a naval battle.
Preserved in its original period slipcase covered with marbled paper featuring geometric patterns.
Its overall condition attests to its authenticity. The binding shows significant signs of wear, while the text block remains intact.
The simple permission notice dated 1779 appears at the end of the volume.
