19th-century Striped Silk Dress From Central Asia

A rare and remarkable antique striped silk dress from Central Asia, dating from the late 19th century.

This long dress features a stunning raspberry-red silk with fine vertical stripes, accented by subtle yellow and gold stripes. Its loose and generous cut is characteristic of traditional Central Asian clothing.

The true originality of this piece lies in its magnificent embroidered designs and textile embellishments. The cuffs and pocket edges are embellished with polychrome geometric embroidery in shades of red, yellow, white, and black, executed with great finesse.

The interior reveals a beautiful printed fabric lining, featuring a spectacular pattern of blue and green Paisley motifs. This lining provides a striking contrast to the red striped silk on the outside.

The finishing touches are particularly meticulous: borders, braids, trimmings, and small embroidered details attest to the care taken in crafting this garment.

A particularly decorative and original antique textile piece, which can be displayed as a collector’s item, a period costume, or simply showcased in an interior as a true work of textile art.

It may also be of interest to collectors of antique textiles, traditional costumes, Central Asian silks, and Oriental embroidery.

The dress is in good overall condition considering its age. Please note: there is a slight weakness in the silk at one shoulder, visible in the photographs.
