A Jacquard-woven Silk Ribbon From The Empire Period
Textured silk sash, jacquard-woven with a typical Empire-style pattern in golden yellow thread on a purplish-red background.
The sash is 16.5 cm wide and has a total length of approximately 890 cm, divided into 5 segments:
-two segments measuring 45 cm,
-one segment measuring 160 cm,
-one segment measuring 215 cm,
-one segment measuring 415 cm (the only one lined with a lightweight cotton canvas).
This type of item is rare on the market: its considerable length, the quality of the weave, and the vibrancy of the colors make it particularly appealing to interior designers.
Condition: Having been used in the past, this strip shows slight color variations (in areas that remained folded, the colors appear more vivid because they were less exposed to light) and some signs of wear along the edges, consistent with its age and use. However, the silk remains sturdy, the design is clearly visible, and the piece retains excellent decorative potential.
