Henry de Waroquier began his career with imaginative paintings. At the time, he was a professor of decorative composition at the École Estienne in Paris and a professor of painting in Studio A at the Scandinavian Academy.
This study, signed in the lower right corner with the monogram “HW,” is reminiscent of Japonism.
