Napoleon III Jewelry Box Signed "maison Boissier" In Queen's Marquetry
A very beautiful Napoleon III-period jewelry box, featuring a curvilinear shape in the Louis XV style, bearing the “Maison Boissier” signature engraved on a brass plate.
Crafted from blackened wood, this box stands out for the richness and quality of its finely chiseled gilded bronze ornamentation.
The scalloped lid is adorned with a remarkable panel of Queen-style marquetry, featuring a regular geometric design composed of wood, brass, and delicate mother-of-pearl inlays with iridescent sheen.
This marquetry is highlighted by an elegant beaded border in gilded bronze.
The entire box features extensive bronze trim: foliage and rocaille friezes, an ornate keyhole, corner finials, and a richly decorated lower frame ending in small feet.
The interior is particularly well-finished and entirely lined with a champagne-beige moiré fabric, both inside the body and under the lid.
The Maison Boissier signature, visible on the brass plate, adds further interest to this beautiful box.
A refined and highly decorative piece, representative of the luxurious taste of French decorative arts during the Second Empire and the enthusiasm of that period for creations inspired by the 18th century.
