Pair Of Sturdy 19th-century Boxed Books
Notary offices commissioned special storage units to organize their extensive archives in the 19th century. These book-shaped boxes provided elegant access to the documents while creating a warm, library-like atmosphere. While computers have largely replaced this comfortable and refined approach to work, you can still use these charming storage units for your favorite documents. Crafted from a lightweight wooden core, they are bound in half-leather with tooled decoration. They bear the label of the Angoulême paper mills, not far from the Dordogne region where this now-defunct office was once located. They are secured with a small hook and open in two stages to facilitate access to the files. Although they show signs of age, they remain in very good condition and are quite sturdy.
