Louis Guillaume Charles Busson (1822–1908) was a French landscape painter associated with 19th-century French naturalism and the Barbizon School movement.

Life & Career Highlights
Early Life & Education: Born on July 15, 1822, in Montoire-sur-le-Loir, he studied painting in Paris under Jean-Charles-Joseph Rémond and Louis Français.

Salon Debut: He made his official debut at the Paris Salon in 1846 and went on to become one of the founding members of the Société des Artistes Français.

Leadership & Influence: Starting in 1873, he served as a juror for the Paris Salon, eventually becoming vice-president of the jury in 1881. He was also a close personal friend of painter and author Eugène Fromentin.

Artistic Style: Busson was celebrated for his naturalistic countryside scenes, capturing ambient light, seasonal moods, and quiet rural landscapes without artificial or exaggerated effects.

Salon Honors: Earned a 3rd-class medal at the Paris Salon of 1855, a 3rd-class medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1867, and a 1st-class medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1878.

Very good antique condition with light signs of age consistent with an older painting. The canvas shows natural surface wear, age-related patina and areas of craquelure. There is visible wear around the edges where the canvas meets the stretcher, including small losses and marks from age. The canvas remains intact.
