Antique Still Life From 1896 - Former Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons Collection
Antique oil painting, dated 1896, depicting a rich still life composed of a vase overflowing with roses, accompanied by peaches, grapes and apples arranged on a stemmed bowl.
The work is signed G. Evason and presented in its beautiful ornate gilded frame, full of charm and character.
Although painted in 1896, this still life is inspired by the style of the 17th-century Dutch masters. The traditional composition, rich colors and combination of flowers and fruit give it a beautiful old-master look, in the spirit of the Old Masters.
This work also has an interesting provenance: it is said to have once decorated the famous luxury hotel Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, in Oxfordshire, owned by renowned chef Raymond Blanc. The hotel's original inventory label is still present on the back. The painting was subsequently sold at Bonhams in 2011, and a restorer's label on the reverse indicates that it has benefited from professional care.
A warm and elegant piece, ideal for a living room, dining room, hallway, corridor or French country, classical or Victorian interior.
